Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) Hires New Ag Teacher
MANKATO, Minn. (May 23, 2019) — Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) has hired a new ag teacher for the first time in 25 years. Ethan M. Dado will start at the beginning of the 2019-20 Academic Year as the Mankato Agricultural Education Teacher for MAPS.
Ethan Dado was hired to ignite an agricultural education program. Mr. Dado is originally from Amery, Wisconsin where he was raised on his family’s 500-cow, 1,300-acre dairy and crop farm. From Amery, Mr. Dado moved to the Twin Cities to continue his education at the University of Minnesota. During his undergraduate studies, he majored in Animal Science and Agricultural Communications and Marketing. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he continued to graduate school to study Agricultural Education. During his program, Dado student taught at Holmen High School in Holmen, WI.
During his collegiate career, he excelled in dairy cattle judging, student leadership, and served as a teaching assistant. He also served on executive boards for five different student organizations and was recognized for excellence in teaching as the recipient of the “Aaron and Anna Beek Graduate Student Teaching Award” given to outstanding graduate teaching assistants. Dado has also served as a Wisconsin FFA State Officer, interned with the Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation and Syngenta and is working for the National FFA organization as a State Officer Program Facilitator.
Mr. Dado shared, “I am elated to begin an agricultural education program in the heart of ag country. This program is long overdue and is set up to succeed due to outstanding community support and intentional efforts set forth by the school. They say education is the key to unlock a bright future. I am excited to help students build their own key in order to unlock their future in the food, fiber, and natural resource industries.”
